Christian Kinney, Ph.D.

Scientist

Christian is a molecular biologist with extensive experience in muscle physiology and muscular dystrophies. While earning his PhD at the University of Maryland School of Medicine, Christian studied the effects of the high levels of μ-crystallin protein that approximately 20% of the population has in their skeletal muscle, and was the lead inventor of a patent-pending gene therapy resulting from this research. He served as a consultant on a triple-negative breast cancer small molecule therapeutic, and won funds at pitch competitions for therapeutics of his design. His considerable experience with facioscapulohumeral muscular dystrophy (FSHD) research, assay design, and therapeutic invention, especially in the context of pre-clinical research and development, enable him to efficiently develop and test novel RNA therapeutics to treat FSHD at miRecule.
